In this video, Jon S. Abramson, MD, discusses the eight Millennium Development Goals to improve the health of children and adults worldwide, specifically goal four, to decrease the number of deaths in children attributed to vaccine-preventable disease by two-thirds by 2015.
Abramson said the number of children's deaths attributed to vaccine-preventable diseases have decreased by about 50% since the goals were made.

Abramson also highlights a number of foundations that are instrumental in "The Decade of Vaccines" including the Gates Foundation and GAVI Foundation. He adds that a number of vaccines recommendations have been made and the eradication of Polio could become a reality by 2018.
